Tips for Keeping Your Computer in Top Shape

  1. Run disk cleanup after every update or software installation to keep down the disk clutter from the internet and installation software.
  2. Run software that optimizes the registry to improve boot-up time and responsiveness of the computer.  This can be free software such as C-Cleaner or pay software such as One Click Cleaner or Registry Optimizer.
  3. Run a complete anti-virus scan once a week.  The anti-virus program performs automatic scans after installation.  For a manual scan at any time, insure that the anti-virus program is up-to-date by starting the update from the anti-virus program menu.  After the update completes, start the scan, preferably a complete system scan.
  4. Run anti-spy software to pick up anything that the Anti-Virus software misses.
  5. Run the de-fragmentation software last to improve the speed of the de-fragmentation.
  6. Keeping the hard drive clean of clutter will improve computer performance.
